LEGO Education Centers come to North America

LEGO Education Centers offer educational enrichment programs in science, math and technology for children ages 3 through 16. Over 150 centers are open worldwide, but the program has yet to take root in North America. That is about to change.

The ALC Education Group has recently signed an exclusive licensing contract with the LEGO Education Division to bring LEGO Education Centers to the United States and Canada. Dan Charleton, the CEO of ALC remarks, “Unlike most after school programs of drill and repetition, we will offer a hands-on, fun, creative environment in which children will work together to investigate robotics, mathematics, design, engineering and a host of other subjects.”

Each center will include flexible classrooms, a LEGO themed gym and a small retail area. The first center is slated to open in spring 2006 in the metro New York area and ALC plans to open LEGO Education Centers in every major metropolitan area across the US and Canada.
